Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Trade Binder app collects and what this website collects. The two are different, so they are covered separately. It describes what the software actually does, written from how the system is built rather than from a template.

Trade Binder is a tool for pricing and recording trades of collectible cards, for collectors trading with each other and for vendors working a table at a show, in person or remotely.

This website collects nothing

tradebinder.co sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third party scripts, loads no fonts from anyone else's servers, and has no forms. We do not know who visits it.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard server request logs to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use a visitor analytics product and we do not build profiles of visitors.

What the app collects

Your account

When you create an account we store an email address and a password, both handled by our authentication provider, Supabase. We never see your password in a readable form.

Alongside your account we keep a profile: a username, a credibility score worked out from your completed trades, a trader level, and your collection visibility setting.

Your username may be taken from your email. If you do not choose one when you sign up, we make one from the part of your email address before the at sign. Usernames are visible to other users, so set your own if you would rather that link not show.

Your collection and your wantlist

The app stores the cards you record as yours: which card, its condition or grade, how many you have, which binder it sits in, and whether you have marked it for trade.

If you add photos of a card, front and back, we store them so the people you trade with can see the actual card. The app asks for camera or photo library access only when you choose to add a photo.

Your wantlist stores the cards you are looking for, with any condition, grade or price limit you set. We match it against cards other collectors have listed for trade to show you who has what you want.

Your trades

For each deal you take part in, the app stores which cards moved in which direction, their quantities and condition, the rates applied, the resulting values, and whether each side confirmed. If you add a location to a deal, such as the name of a card show, we store that too.

Someone can join a deal as a guest, without an account, by giving a display name. We store that name with the deal.

Connections

If you connect with another user, we store the connection and whether it has been accepted. Connections decide who can see a collection set to connections only.

Trust and safety

If you report another user, we store the report: who filed it, who it names, the deal it relates to, the reason and what it says. We also keep a record of trust relevant events on a profile, such as a completed or abandoned deal, which is what the credibility score is worked out from.

What we do not collect

These are positive claims about how the app is built, not hedges:

No analytics or tracking of any kind. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, no telemetry and no advertising identifier in the app.
No payment information. No money moves through Trade Binder. We record what a deal was worth and what was owed, and payment happens directly between the people involved. We never receive a card number or bank detail.
No location tracking. The only location we hold is one you type into a deal yourself.
No contacts or microphone access.

How we use your data

We use what we collect to run the app and nothing else:

To keep your collection, wantlist and trade history.
To price a deal and record what each side sent and received.
To match your wantlist against cards other collectors have listed for trade.
To show your username, credibility score and trader level to the people you trade with.
To investigate reports of fraud or abuse and keep the platform safe.
To answer you when you email us.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it or rent it to anyone.

Who can see what

Your username, credibility score and trader level are visible to other users.
Your collection is visible according to your setting: everyone, only people you are connected with, or only you.
Cards you mark for trade can appear in other collectors' wantlist matches, within your visibility setting.
A deal is visible to everyone in it. The other party sees the cards, values and your username. That is the point of the feature.
Photos of a card are visible to the people who can see that card.

We use these processors to run the service:

Supabase provides authentication, the database and file storage. All account, collection and trade data, and card photos, live here.
Cloudflare serves this website.

We also disclose data where the law requires it, or where it is needed to investigate a credible report of fraud or abuse on the platform.

Where your data is stored

Our database, file storage and authentication are provided by Supabase, hosted on Amazon Web Services in the ca-central-1 region in Canada. If you use Trade Binder from outside Canada, your data is stored there.

Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections, and access to each user's data is enforced in the database itself, not only in the app.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is open, because your collection and trade history are the product.

When you ask us to delete your account we complete it within 30 days. Copies can remain in routine backups for a limited time before they are overwritten. Because a deal involves another person, the other party's record of a completed trade can remain, with your personal details removed from it.

Your choices and your rights

You can change your username and your collection visibility in the app, and remove cards, photos and wantlist entries at any time.

Deleting your account. Account deletion from within the app is being built and will be available before release. Until then, email us from the address on your account and we will delete it for you. The Support page explains how.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to some processing. Email us and we will act on the request.

Children

Trade Binder is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. We do not ask for a date of birth. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

The app is in active development, and features that collect new kinds of data will be added. Card scanning is planned and is not built yet. When it ships, and before any other feature that collects something new is released, this policy will be updated and the date at the top will change.
